The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness How Mindfulness Can Change Your Life in Ten Minutes a Day edition by Andy Puddicombe Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews

  • It's a perfectly fine book, but if you have already purchased Get Some Headspace How Mindfulness Can Change Your Life in Ten Minutes a Day, DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. They are the same book and this was not clear from the product description. In fact, these two books appeared as a suggested bundle.
  • As a headspace user going on a year runstreak, I wasn't sure if this book would be helpful to me or if it would best serve someone who hasn't used the app yet and who is new to mindfulness and meditation. After preordering and reading the book I'm so glad that I did. It is really for everyone, no matter their experience level with mindfulness. Reading the book after doing the app for a while has just helped deepen my understanding of the lessons, etc. and I refer back to it often. I think it's a great book on its own, or paired with the headspace app... Which I cannot recommend enough. It has been life changing.
  • I have the Headspace app also. I have suffered from depression and anxiety most of my adult life. The app itself has been a great help for both of these issues. However, the book has taken my daily mindfulness meditation to another level and is a great companion to the app or wonderful on its own. I would recommend it to anyone who could use mindfulness and meditation to help with psychological stress is as well as physical stresses and disorders. Learning to relax the mind and turn relaxes the body, and the practice creates a non-judgemental awareness and understanding of how the body reacts to stressful situations. This often releases long-held tension that causes disorders and the physical body.
In mindfulness, it is possible to learn self-compassion through the recognition that situations outside ourselves, or out of our control, need not disturb our inner quiet moments. Each mind, no matter how full of clutter, is just waiting for a quiet moment to come into focus.
I highly recommend this book due to Andy's style of Storytelling to help explain abstract ideas on mindfulness meditation. I would recommend downloading the app also.
  • I began using the Headspace app, then bought the book. They are an excellent combination! The book compliments and explains in more detail than the app. I really have a great appreciation for both and would recommend both the Headspace app and the book! The stories/analogies Andy (author) shares beautifully illustrates the points he makes. It is a delightfully written book, very witty, interesting a a fast read. I have been using the app for about 40 days now. I am in the "anxiety" 30-day series currently and getting a lot out of it. Headspace mindfulness and meditation practice has really improved my mental health in just this short time. I am definitely a subscriber and look forward to doing other "packs," like the one on stress. I've also used the meditation exercise on "sleep" to get back to sleep in the middle of the night and it has worked every time! What I have learned and began putting into practice from the app and book have truly changed my life!!! I highly recommend both this book and the Headspace app / Headspace.com, including subscribing after doing the unlimited, lifetime, free "Take-10" - 10 Minutes a Day, 10-Day Free Trial" on the Headspace app on Google Play or Apple store.... I am actually in my 3rd reading of the book. I learn more each time I read through it (something I missed other reading) and it really helps "ground me" in my meditation practice while using the app each day...
  • This book predates on the time headspace app was debuting on the market. although the app provides more variety of options, the book provides only one ten minute exercise. Anybody who is a headspace follower will not find much information in the book other than a basic explanation of what is meditation and mindfulness. but anybody who is knew into this topic will find a basic guide and deep information on how to follow an exercise. It is not a companion for the app. But like I mention again, it is an introduction of the app. I found this as a reason why this book is not longer in print.
  • This was recommended to me as part of a 30 challenges to enlightenment program I am experimenting with. Though I’ve been meditating in and off for the last few years and regularly over the last few months, this book helped me deepen my practice and further understand the reasons for the meditation activities I’ve been doing. I recommend this book for both novice and experienced meditators.
  • Life changing method for learning to center, focus and quiet the mind. As the co-owner of a large vintage and antique collective in Venice, CA my time is filled with busy work and stresses. I was putting in so much effort just to handle daily operations and manage our growth that I was frustrated and exhausted. My body was literally collapsing on itself, my overly tense muscles stopped operating properly. Something had to give. I read about Headspace on the internet and bought the book, then downloaded the app. Its been 5 months now and I am delighted! I've used many mindfulness meditation techniques before, I've studied self help books from Eastern and Western traditions. The techniques Andy teaches with Headspace combines ancient Buddhist techniques with our current understanding of neuroplasticity of the brain. Its made to fit into our lifestyles, not in a watered down fashion, just distilled for the most useful points in the briefest time. I highly recommend this book and the Headspace app.
  • I love Andy's teachings & meditation app. This book provides even more detailed & background about the practice of meditation & we get to know even more about Andy himself. He's a gift to us!
