Its a tribute to family traditions.

"I watch her do it every year. Mom leafs through files, shuffles through kitchen drawers, and finally emerges victorious with a handful of old, dog-eared recipes for the dishes our family always expects on the table every Thanksgiving and Christmas. This disorganization isn't a sign of an untidy housekeeper; like every good Southern cook, she's showing respect for family history."

"This cookbook took me down memory lane. Several tried and true recipes for an experienced cook, but did have a new
twist to some of the old ones. There are many recipes that I do not have and look forward to trying them. The forward by Pat Conroy is delightful. No complaints from me. I even bought one for my older sister."

  • This is a superb collection of Southern Living recipes. I have tested many of them, and they have been met with rave reviews from my family and friends. This weekend, I plan to make the layer cake with caramel whipped cream frosting.

Over the years I have become very critical of cookbooks, because I am often disappointed that the recipes do not yield a delicious result. Often very ho-hum. I wonder if some of these recipes are even tested prior to publication. In this case, each recipe has lived up to the hype.
  • I am a big cookbook collector - nothing fancy, just good home cooking - I liked this book so much, I ordered several more for friends and family - the BLT Potato Salad on page 50 and the Cinnamon Raisin Rolls on page 69 have become family favorites......and the Cola Pot Roast on page 41.....I could go on and on !
  • This cookbook took me down memory lane. Several tried and true recipes for an experienced cook, but did have a new
twist to some of the old ones. There are many recipes that I do not have and look forward to trying them. The forward by Pat Conroy is delightful. No complaints from me. I even bought one for my older sister.
  • Incredible. I love all of these recipes and grew up on so many of them from my mother. Thank you for bringing them all together. This is the best Cookbook that I have ever bought!! LOVE
  • I absolutely love this book have used so many recipes out of it that the binding has come apart so I bought the second one so I can keep it in my collection ... Really excellent home cooking that doesn't have odd ingredients and flavors that kids and family may not like ... I only found a few recipes that I did not really care for.
  • My aunt had this book, but would not let me have it... so I decided to order. Just about all recipes sound easy to make with ingredients not hard to find in stores. I am looking forward to cooking many of these because this is our kind of eating!
  • I make notes in all of my cookbooks so I will know what I liked, didn't like, what I need more of, etc..and this book has EXCELLENT marked on ALMOST every page! As a true southern belle, these are indeed "tried and true" recipes of the south. There were only a few recipes I did not feel appealing. Highly recommended!
  • This is probably my favorite of all my Southern Living cookbooks as it has great easy everyday recipes.
